Find Relief with SPRAVATO® at Psychiatric Wellness Center

Cycling through medications can be frustrating and exhausting. If you have tried two or more antidepressants without finding relief, you are not alone—and there is another way. Discover SPRAVATO® (esketamine), an FDA-approved prescription nasal spray for Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD), administered safely under the supervision of our compassionate medical team.

What is SPRAVATO®?

SPRAVATO® (esketamine) CIII is a prescription nasal spray used alongside an oral antidepressant to treat adults with Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD) and depressive symptoms in adults with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) accompanied by suicidal thoughts or actions. It is believed to work differently than traditional antidepressants, targeting a different receptor in the brain to help you begin to feel like yourself again.

Who is SPRAVATO® For?

Clinical depression is one of the most common mental health disorders, but standard treatments don’t work for everyone. You might be a candidate for SPRAVATO® if:

  • You are an adult diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder.

  • You have tried at least two different oral antidepressants, and they have not provided adequate relief (Treatment-Resistant Depression).

  • You are looking for a supervised, innovative approach to achieving psychiatric wellness.

How Taking SPRAVATO® Works

Because of the potential for temporary side effects like sedation and dissociation, SPRAVATO® is never taken at home. Here is what your treatment day at Psychiatric Wellness Center will look like:

Administering: You will self-administer the nasal spray under the direct supervision of our trained healthcare providers.

Observation: You will relax in our comfortable, private clinic space while our staff monitors you for at least two hours to ensure your safety and comfort.

Heading Home: Because SPRAVATO® can cause sleepiness or a feeling of disconnect, you cannot drive or operate machinery until the next day following a restful sleep. You will need to plan for a friend, family member, or caregiver to drive you home.

Why Choose Psychiatric Wellness Center for Treatment?

SPRAVATO® is only available through a restricted program called the SPRAVATO® Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS). Psychiatric Wellness Center is a certified healthcare setting, meaning our specialized clinicians are fully trained to administer this medication and monitor your safety. From our Bakersfield offices to our San Diego care hub, we take a “Whole Person Care” approach to ensure you are supported before, during, and after your treatments.
