Continuity of Care

How We Work Alongside Referring Clinicians

We believe the best psychiatric care occurs through open communication, timely access, and coordinated treatment. Referring a patient to us should never mean losing visibility into their care.

When you refer a patient, our goal is to strengthen the care you are already providing rather than replace it. We complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, discuss findings and options with the patient, and build an evidence-based treatment plan around their history, goals, and circumstances.

With the patient's written authorization, we communicate with your office about the evaluation, the treatment plan, and meaningful changes along the way, so the patient is not left to relay clinical information between practices.

  • Comprehensive psychiatric evaluations
  • Evidence-based, individualized treatment plans
  • Coordination with therapy and primary care
  • Clear communication back to the referring clinician

Areas of Focus

Presentations We Commonly See

Our practice focuses on adult psychiatry, with particular depth in adult ADHD, anxiety and panic, and women's mental health across the reproductive lifespan.

If you are unsure whether a particular patient is a good fit, calling our office is usually the fastest way to find out. Our team can talk through the referral, confirm whether we are the right setting for that level of care, and let you know current intake availability before the patient is contacted.

For patients who need a higher level of care than an outpatient practice can safely provide, we will say so directly and help point the referral in a more appropriate direction.

Common Questions

FAQs for Referring Clinicians

Are you currently accepting new patients?
Yes. We are currently accepting new patients and can typically get intakes seen within 1–2 weeks. If you would like to confirm current availability before sending a referral, call our office at (760) 688-4080.
How do I send a referral?
To send us referrals directly, please contact us at (760) 688-4080 or email us at info@psychwellnesscenter.com. Include the patient's name, contact information, and the reason for referral, and our team will reach out to the patient to schedule.
Will I receive updates about my patient?
Yes. With the patient's written authorization, we communicate evaluation findings, the treatment plan, and meaningful changes back to the referring clinician. We believe the best psychiatric care occurs through open communication and coordinated treatment.
Do you see patients in person or by telehealth?
Both. Patients can be seen in person at our Encinitas office or by telehealth when appropriate for their needs and the type of visit. Our team helps determine which format fits a given patient.
Do you continue to work with the patient's therapist?
Yes. Many of the patients referred to us are already engaged in therapy, and we consider that an asset. We coordinate with therapists, primary care physicians, OB/GYNs, and other treating clinicians so that psychiatric care complements the work already underway.
What if a patient needs urgent or emergency care?
Our practice is an outpatient psychiatric setting and is not equipped for emergencies. If a patient is experiencing a medical emergency, thoughts of harming themselves or someone else, or is unable to stay safe, they should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately.
