Alexis M. Valos, Ph.D.
Psychologist, PhD, MS, PPS, RPT-S, NRHSP
With more than 25 years of experience in the fields of child psychology, neuropsychology, and education, Dr. Valos enjoys serving youths, and their families, as they complete the psychological assessment process. The purpose of a psychological assessment is to provide possible explanations surrounding a child’s observed struggles and inherent strengths. A psychological assessment can reveal how your child learns, thinks, processes information, and responds to the environment. Evaluations always include detailed information about the whole child, such as a comprehensive developmental history, behavioral observations, interviews with significant parties, and the child’s performance on standardized tests. A thorough psychological/neuropsychological assessment may reveal clinical and/or psychoeducational diagnoses, where the goal is to clarify presenting problems and provide recommendations that support a child’s growth and success. In addition to psychological/neuropsychological testing, Dr. Valos is highly skilled in the areas of differential diagnoses, parent coaching, and the development of creative interventions to support youth at home and in the classroom. Dr. Valos’ treatment approach is to provide useable information, diagnostic support and evidence-based feedback to help her clients resolve current issues.
